Ursula Utz
2/28/1930 – 9/22/2026
Ursula Utz (née Schiller) passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 22nd, in Parker, Colorado. She resided in Bellmore for 60 years prior to relocating to Colorado to be with family.
Ursula was a devoted wife to her husband Cal for over 48 years, prior to his passing in 2007. Loving mother to her sons Steve, his wife Kathy, and Kenny. Grandmother to Chris, Richard, Cameron, and Bryanna. Great-grandmother to Emma, Cody, and Owen. She was also a great friend to everyone she knew.
Ursula was an only child born to Paul and Freida Schiller, immigrants that left Germany in the late 1920s.
Ursula did not learn to speak English until she attended elementary school. After graduating from Sewanhaka High School, she joined the workforce as a legal secretary while also pursuing her dream to be a professional ice skater. That dream was put on indefinite hold in 1957, when she and Cal were married and opted to start a family instead. She stayed home to raise her sons and returned to the workforce when they went to high school.
In the late seventies she found her family a new church home at Calvary Lutheran Church in East Meadow. She also volunteered for FISH of Wantagh where until her mid- eighties she would drive those needing transportation to medical appointments. She had a love for animals and houseplants. Her house was often referred to as the jungle, due to the number of plants she had strategically placed throughout.
She and Cal enjoyed bowling, tennis, dancing and their favorite spot, Jones Beach as well as going to Mets and Ducks games. They would both drop what they were doing to join in with friends for almost any event or to help when needed, She will be missed greatly by many. Truly a life well lived!
