Richard G Baxter
8/31/1929 – 3/18/2023
Richard G. Baxter, loving husband, Dad, Grandpa and Great Grandpa passed peacefully at Good Shepherd Hospice at Mercy Hospital.
Born and raised in Queens, NY he was extremely proud of his Navy service during the Korean War as a corpsman. He loved all the medical knowledge he received and the beautiful places he was stationed at in the US, Hawaii and Japan.
In 1954, he married Joan Loughran and they had 64 years together until her passing in 2018. They had two daughters who were the light of his life.
One of his greatest joys was his career as a Master Engineer at RCA Records and BMG. He recorded celebrities such as Steve Lawrence & Edie Gorme, Jackson Browne, the Main Ingredient and of course Elvis Presley along with many others. He did recording for the Metropolitan Opera and Time Life. His collection of gold records and CDs is a tribute to his dedication.
Golf was an important part of his life and he played every Sunday and even more during his retirement. He was an excellent bowler and even coached the boys teams for St. Joan of Arc Youth Council in Jackson Heights before moving to Long Island. He was a kind and loving man who lived his life pleasing others.
He is survived by his two daughters, Dawn Parr (husband John) and Dara Cornell (husband Phillip), his grandchildren, Ryan, Kelly and Megan Meades and Riley and Lily Cornell, along with his beautiful great-granddaughter Kyla Meades.
Richard had a wonderful life and will be missed by many. We cherish his memory.
