OBITUARY
Peter W McCabe
5/29/1941 – 3/28/2024
Peter William McCabe passed away peacefully with his family surrounding him on March 28, 2024. He was 82 years old.
Peter was born in Brooklyn, NY in May, 1941. He grew up in Whitestone, NY. He was an Army Veteran and was stationed in Texas and Korea. He received his undergraduate degree in English from St. John’s University and received his Masters in Finance from Adelphi University. Peter and his wife, Catherine were married in July 1964 and moved to Valley Stream where they raised their family. Peter retired from Guardian Life Insurance Company in Manhattan as Vice President of Accounting Systems in 2002.
He was predeceased by his wife, Catherine McCabe(Quinn). He is survived by his son, Donald F. McCabe and his wife Elena and his daughter, Tara (McCabe) Casucci and her husband Louis. He was so proud of his 6 grandchildren, Kayla Baldino(Rob), Shawn McCabe(Emily), Breanne Casucci(Engaged to Dominic Mondi), Lourdes McCabe, Sophia McCabe and Fiona Casucci. He is survived by his sister, Donna DeBeneditis. He is predeceased by his parents, Donald F. McCabe and Evelyn(Porter), Kathleen Heather, Patrick McCabe and Michael E. McCabe(Anne). He has many loving nephews and nieces and cousins in the McCabe,Quinn and Clarke families.
Peter was an avid bowler at Rockville Center Lanes for many years as well as a golfer. He was always a loyal tried and true NY Mets fan. He loved music and concerts, especially Irish music and Adele. He loved the Nutcracker at Lincoln Center and took the family to see it for many years. He loved the opera. Peter watched Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune every night. He took pride in his children, grandchildren and all of his family. His friends who golfed and bowled with him were treasures to him. He will be greatly missed by all.
