OBITUARY
Michael F Obasaju
4/7/1953 – 5/21/2024
Dr. Michael Femi Obasaju, dear husband of Sheila, cherished father of Mayowa, Laju, and Femi Jr., father-in-law of Nate, and treasured grandfather of Aderewa passed away on May 21st at the age of 71. Born in Kabba, Nigeria, he led a life committed to advancements in medicine. He served as the Director of In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) & Andrology & Hormones Laboratories at New York Fertility Institute from 1997 until his retirement in 2022. Dr. Obasaju obtained a Master of Information Systems from the University of Phoenix in 2008, a Ph.D. in Comparative Pathology (Reproductive / Developmental Biology) from the University of California, Davis in 1986, and a Masters in Veterinary Medicine (Veterinary Physiology) from the University of Glasgow, Scotland in 1981. Prior to that, he received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria in 1977. After receiving his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, he lectured at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria and continued after his Masters in Glasgow.
Dr. Obasaju was an avid tennis fan and player, a jazz lover, a reader, lifelong learner, and took joy in spending time with his granddaughter in his later years. He was a proud Yoruba man who loved his family, siblings, and friends. He was a mentor to many. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, wisdom, and love. He touched the lives of many, including the countless children he helped usher into the world via IVF. He will be greatly missed; may his soul rest in eternal peace.
