Rudolf “Rudy” Charles Ondris of North Bellmore, New York passed away peacefully on September 18, 2023, at the age of 99. Born on June 21, 1924, in New York City, Rudy was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.

 Rudy led a fulfilling life, filled with love, laughter, and stories told over a glass of scotch. He had a passion for golf, fishing and spending quality time with his loved ones. Rudy’s quick wit and boisterous laugh made him a joy to be around, and he will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to know him.

 Rudy now joins his loving wife, Gladys, and his brother, Fred. He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion as the father of Diane, James (AnnMarie) Ondris, Jane (Rick) Figalora, and Lynn (Mike) Dougherty. He was the beloved grandfather to Alyssa (Ryan) Lutz, Kelly (Mark) Madias, James (Lindsey) Ondris, Meghan (Shane) Hewson, Sarah (Mitch) Mercik, Matthew Figalora, Kaitlin (Lou) Grove, Justine (David) Dougherty, and Michael Dougherty. He was the beloved great-grandfather to Louis, Ryan, Jack, Darla, Olivia, and Quinn.

In his earlier years, Rudy served in the Army during World War II, proudly defending his country. After his military service, he went on to have a successful career as a technician for the American Broadcasting Company for 32 years.

 Outside of work, Rudy was the life of any party. He was known for the little sayings he would sing as he walked through the front door to visit his children and grandchildren. Rudy will be remembered as someone who spoke his mind and stood up for the things he believed in and the people he loved. His passion for life and his love of a good time will never be forgotten. He enjoyed a glass of scotch until the very end.

A funeral service to honor and celebrate Rudy’s life will be held at Bellmore Funeral Home, located at 2340 Jerusalem Avenue in North Bellmore. The compassionate staff at Bellmore Funeral Home will assist the family during this difficult time.

Susan Black

Susan Winkler Black of North Bellmore passed away peacefully on September 17, 2023.  She was the loving wife of Richard Black for over 40 years.

Susan was born on 10/21/1947 in Oceanside, NY to the late Andrew and Elizabeth Winkler.

She leaves to mourn her stepchildren Deb (Bill) Badgley, Tracey (Steve) Carbone, and Rick (Violeta) Black, along with 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.  She is survived by many special nieces & nephews, especially Michael & Robbie who she felt were like brothers.  Also survived by her sister Kitty Cohen & brother Andrew (Carole) Winkler.  She leaves many friends, some life-long others more recent.  To anyone that touched her life, she loved you all.  

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her grandson David & brother-in-law Wally.  Services are private.
