OBITUARY
Edward Miller
11/26/1955 – 8/2/2025
Edward J. Miller of North Merrick, NY, passed away peacefully at home on August 2nd, surrounded by his devoted wife and daughters. He was a 25-year resident of the community and leaves behind a legacy of love, humor, and zest for life.
Edward was beloved by his wife, Irene, and cherished by their daughters, Brittany, Hannah, and Grace. He was the second son of the late Raymond Miller and is survived by his mother, Rosaleen of Uniondale. Edward is also lovingly remembered by his siblings: Linda Miller-Rosman (Mill), Susanne Miller, Desmond Miller (Patty), Rosemary Ozner (Mark), William Miller (Noreen), Katherine Johns (Peter), and Sheila McPherson (Neil). He was predeceased by his eldest brother, Raymond, in 2018.
A man of boundless curiosity and enthusiasm, Edward was witty, talented, and always engaged with the world around him. His interests were vast: he was a lacrosse player, an avid fisherman, an enthusiastic sports fan, a passionate gardener, and an accomplished chef. Edward enjoyed duck hunting, golfing, boating, beach outings, antique clocks, vintage fishing poles, classic films, and a perfectly grilled steak with clams. His garden bloomed with stunning dahlias and tomatoes that burst with life—just like the man who grew them.
Known for his vitality and insatiable inquisitiveness, Edward embodied the spirit of a true renaissance man. He embraced life with vigor, echoing the sentiment of Auntie Mame: “Life is a banquet and most poor suckers are starving to death.” Edward never failed to take a generous bite.
His courage and grace throughout his battle with bladder cancer inspired all who knew him. Edward’s resilience, sharp wit, and fighting spirit will remain a lasting tribute to his extraordinary character.
He leaves behind a large and loving extended family, countless nieces and nephews, and a circle of devoted friends. He will be missed dearly by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to the hospice team whose compassionate care eased Edward’s final weeks. In lieu of flowers, donations in Edward’s memory may be made to the to Northwell Hospice Network
