Christine Archbold Chicco, 74, passed away while at her home in Naples, Florida. A wife and mother, she is survived by her husband of 48 years, Robert; her sons Gabriel (Michelle), Alexander (Tomoko), Matthew (Karah May), Luke (Emilia) and Jesse (Erin) and their wives, as well as her seven beloved grandchildren; James, Patrick, Katie, Julia, Madeleine, Lina, and Mia. Among the many who mourn her passing are her extended family, including two brothers-in-law, Giuliano and Giancarlo; their wives, Meg and Barbara; and their children, Elizabeth, Michael, Lily and Anna, who knew her as Aunt Chris. She was predeceased by her father, James Archbold, who tragically died when she was a child; her mother Yolanda Archbold Manna and her stepfather Patsy Manna; as well as her sole brother Michael Archbold.
Christine was born in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. She and Robert met when they were both employed at the same law firm in Manhattan, where they lived for several years, ultimately settling down in Merrick, Long Island. She was devoted to her family and spent many hours at school events, concerts and at many football, wrestling and lacrosse matches. As time permitted she greatly enjoyed traveling, reading and maintaining many connections online.
In retirement, they divided their time between Merrick and Naples, Florida, where she cultivated many new neighbors and friends. She was loved and will be missed by many friends and acquaintances both new and old. Late in life Christine was plagued with several medical conditions that she bore with grace and good humor, but ultimately left her unable to withstand Covid, from which she succumbed on March 31st, 2023.
A memorial service is planned on May 20th, at Bellmore Funeral Home, 1-5. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in her name to one of her many charities including St. Jude Hospital, the ACLU and UNICEF.
