OBITUARY
Nancy T Pope
9/21/1949 – 9/13/2024
Nancy T. Pope, 74, passed away on Friday, September 13th. Daughter of Joseph J. and Nancy S. Kopecky, she was born in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn and raised in Franklin Square. Nancy attended Valley Stream North High and Adelphi University, where she trained as a medical technologist. Nancy and her husband Robert M. Pope married in 1979 and settled in North Merrick. She worked as a Blood Bank specialist at St. Francis Hospital in Manhasset.
Nancy was devoted to her children and along with Bob advocated fiercely for her special needs son Matt. She also traveled extensively with her daughter Patty.
She had many interests, including spinning and weaving, and was a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers and NY Mets fan.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband Robert and her children Matthew and Patricia Pope (Patrick). She is also survived by her brother John (Regina) Kopecky, Richard (Roxanne) Kopecky, and sister-in-law Dorothy Pope.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Bellmore Funeral Home, 2340 Jerusalem Ave, North Bellmore. Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday 11:15am, Sacred Heart Church 720 Merrick Ave, North Merrick. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Long Island Blues Special Hockey Team or the Special Olympics New York golf program
A memorial celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
