Audrey Player

With deep love and gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Audrey Player, who peacefully departed this life on November 4, 2026 at the age of 97.
Born on March 11, 1929 in Cedarhurst, Audrey lived a remarkable life marked by kindness, resilience, faith, and devotion to her family and church. Through nearly a century of changing times, she remained a steady source of comfort, warmth and kindness to all who knew her.
Audrey was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, Russell, with whom she shared many happy years until his passing in 2007. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend whose greatest joy came from spending time with her family. Whether through a shared meal, a thoughtful conversation, or simple acts of kindness, her home was always filled with laughter and the comforting presence that made everyone feel welcome.
Always one who was active, Audrey enjoyed gardening, reading, creating artwork, the beach, and her church activities. She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures and instilled in those around her the value of hard work, compassion, gratitude, and faith.
She is survived by her children, Diane Groden (Joel), Randy Player (Sharon) and granddaughter, Samantha Player, and many extended family members and friends who will cherish her memory forever. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell, and other beloved family members.
Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we celebrate the extraordinary gift of her 97 years and the legacy of love she leaves behind.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to her beloved Merrick United Methodist Church in her memory.
May she rest in eternal peace and remain forever in our hearts.
